Café Méricourt

Café Méricourt

22 rue de la Folie Méricourt 75011 Paris

 9 – Saint Ambroise

 mercredi au dimanche 10h-18h

I took my time to try this brunch staple out, wanting to avoid the immediate popularity that ensued as soon as it opened. But I’m glad I finally tried out since now it makes sense to me why people are drawn to this very simple but quaint café. The food is good, the coffee is good. This is the Sunday-morning place you’re looking for!

I genuinely avoided trying shakshuka JUST so I could try the one here and call it my first. It’s a perfect dish to wake up the senses and taste buds and will definitely be a go to for me now onwards.

We ordered: a cappuccino and a dirty chai

(The dirty chai tastes more espresso than chai so add some sugar to bring out the chai!)

=  4,50€

The shakshuka (tomatoes, peppers, onions, garlic, spices, harissa et eggs cooked in the oven)

= 8€50 pour un oeuf

and to end the meal, a yummy chocolate chip hazelnut cookie

= 3,50€

I would recommend this place especially because they take reservations (only at certain times, check their website for more details) which is a hard thing to come by for popular brunch spots these days! It’s a very relaxing place to chill and catch up with a friend. The friendly service (in English too) is a nice and comforting plus!
